FAQs

  • A Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PHMNP) is a certified professional caring for patients with mental disorders. Some PMHNPs can practice independently.

With a nursing background, PHMNPs integrate care of the mind and body while using emotional intelligence to create personalized plans.

They typically hold a Master's or Doctorate in nursing with psychiatric training and must be certified through a national body to practice legally.

  • Welliti ensures ongoing care by referring and collaborating with specialists, such as therapists, family practice or internal medicine specialists, neurologists, psychologists, and others who offer additional treatment modalities.

  • Stimulants represent a wide range of drugs that enhance central nervous system activity. Due to their high potential for addiction, they are not recommended for various medical conditions. Stimulant medications may be prescribed if specific diagnostic criteria outlined in the DSM-5 TR are satisfied. These medications will never be refilled early or before the designated refill date. Welliti may also request an ECG (electrocardiogram) before starting stimulant treatment.

  • Benzodiazepines are categorized as controlled substances because of their potential risks, especially when misused. These drugs suppress the central nervous system, and excessive suppression can result in severe or fatal consequences. Additionally, there is a risk of addiction associated with benzodiazepines. For these reasons, Welliti prescribes benzodiazepines cautiously and only when necessary. We also encourage discussions about alternative treatments.
