ANXIETY
Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness. Anxiety is problematic when excessive fear, concern, or nervousness impacts your ability to function. This fear is out of proportion to the situation or age-inappropriate. Symptoms are typically consistent for six months or more.
BIPOLAR DISORDER
Bipolar disorder presents with distinct periods of excessive happiness, increased energy, and/or irritability (mania/hypomania). There are also episodes of sadness (depression). These mood episodes last days to weeks not hours. Mood episodes cause extreme changes in behavior that impact a person’s ability to function.
DEPRESSION
Depression is a persistent feeling of sadness that may present with a lack of interest in activities, guilt, fatigue, poor sleep, lack of concentration, fatigue, changes in appetite, and/or thoughts of death. Symptoms range from mild to severe and typically present for two weeks or more.
PTSD
Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) presents in those who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event such as a natural disaster, a serious accident, a terrorist act, war, or rape. PTSD can cause nightmares, flashbacks, distressing memories, hypervigilance, negative thoughts, and problems concentration among other symptoms. These symptoms are present for more than one month.
ADHD
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) symptoms present with difficulty focusing, hyperactivity, and/or impulsivity which can cause issues at home, school, work, or in social settings. Symptoms may be more noticeable in children but present in adults as well.
INSOMNIA
Insomnia presents with difficulty falling asleep and/or staying asleep. The sleep disturbance occurs at least 3 nights per week for at least 3 months and impacts a person’s ability to function. Insomnia cannot be contributed to any other illness such as sleep apnea or narcolepsy.
FAQs
What ages do you treat?
We evaluate, diagnose, and treat from the age of 13 years old and up. We use a holistic approach to treat mental illnesses and combine natural remedies, medications, and supportive psychotherapy to treat the whole person.
What is your no-show, late, and missed appointment policy?
We require a 48 hours notice for cancellations. If you fail to cancel 48 hours prior to your appointment you will be charged a $60 fee. If you are more than 15 minutes late, we reserve the right to reschedule your appointment and if the appointment is kept your appointment time may not be extended.
What are your fees? Which insurances do you accept?
We dedicate 60 minutes for new patients and 30 minutes for returning patients. The new patient evaluation fee is $250 and the follow-up fee is $125.
We plan to accept insurance plans in the near future. We can supply you with documentation for reimbursement through your insurance company or HSA/FSA. Some clients prefer to pay out of pocket for confidential reasons and that’s ok too.
What is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP)?
A PMHNP is a master’s degree prepared advanced practice registered nurse. We are trained to assess, diagnose, treat, and evaluate mental health conditions and to provide psychotherapy. As nurses, we are trained to use a holistic approach and provide care with compassion and empathy.
How am I seen?
Visits are conducted virtually. The process is easy! All you need is a stable Wi-Fi connection. Clients report that visits feel personal like talking to a friend. You can use a cellphone, computer, or tablet. These virtual visits allow you to be seen anywhere with Wi-Fi making it easier and faster to get the care that you deserve.
What if it’s an emergency?
We do not provide emergency services. If you are admitted to a hospital please let us know and provide the discharge summary if possible. In the case of an emergency we advise you to contact:
