How Hydration Leads To Happiness

If a recipe called for 2 cups of milk would you omit it and still expect an amazing dish? Yet, we leave out key ingredients to maintaining our health all the time and are upset at the result. Your brain is 70% water and only weighs 3 pounds. Research has found that even a 2% decrease in hydration has a significant impact on memory, concentration, and mood.

Staying hydrated with water (not soda, juice, or alcohol👀) is essential to improving your mental and physical health. A study conducted by Bosch Home Appliances found that people who drank 6 or more glasses of water were more energetic, confident, and successful than those who drank less.

So you hate water, huh? You forget to drink water? Let me guess you don’t have the time? Well, dehydration can cause weight gain, headaches, dizziness, bad breath, and wrinkles. If those last two don’t convince you to drink more water I’m not sure what will!

How can you improve your hydration? I’m glad you asked. First, get intentional about your water intake. Set a daily goal and use a large reusable water bottle as a reminder. Start as soon as you wake up and check your progress throughout the day.

Try:

🥝 Add fruit for a natural flavor boost.

🥤Drinking carbonated water with a hint of flavor to spice things up.

🧊Add ice! Ice has been shown to increase water intake possibly due to the temperature, look, and sound.

💧Add water flavor enhancers if you have to but check the ingredients as some have artificial additives.

Your pee is key!

Your urine tells a story:

If it’s clear you may want to scale back just a bit (too much of anything can be a problem).

If it is the color of lemonade (lemonade) you’re doing great!

If it is dark yellow: Increase a few cups per day.

Brownish: You’re dehydrated and your liver may not be doing well.

Pinkish: Could be the sign of a UTI or blood.

Foamy: May indicate kidney issues.

💡Certain foods or medications may also impact the color of your urine.

Remember: What you put in must come out which can show physically and mentally.

Always invest in yourself. Staying hydrated is an easy investment with a huge return.

Be well!
